Date sent: 20-FEB-1991 17:15 CST I have a new VMS port of DVIDVI available for anyone interested. For those who don't know, DVIDVI is a program that converts .DVI files to new .DVI files with changes; for example, you can extract all the odd pages, shift the output, etc. In fact, I have included a simple DCL procedure to do poor-man's duplex printing, using DVIDVI to create two .DVI files, one with the odd pages, and one with the even pages in reverse order. This new port was necessary because DVIPS v5.47, as well as the latest DVITYPE from the DECUS TeX collection, expects the .DVI to be a "normal" VMS binary file (fixed-length, 512-byte records). The original DVIDVI, which had no special VMS stuff in it, created Stream_LF files which DVIPS v5.47 choked on. I added the code to make DVIDVI under VMS create the fixed length files (which the DECUS TeX, etc., create). This version should work under UNIX without modification (it's written in C, naturally). The new port is available from VMSSERV@WKUVX1. Bitnet sites running Jnet can retrieve it with the following command: $ SEND VMSSERV@WKUVX1 VMSDUMP DVIDVI.PACKAGE Non-Jnet sites can retrieve it by sending a mail message to VMSSERV@WKUVX1 with the *body*: SEND DVIDVI.PACKAGE. Also available: DVIDVI.EXE and DVIDVI.UUE (uuencoded .EXE). DVIDVI was written by Tomas G. Rokicki.
