[comp.text.tex] What a lively bunch!

Here's the best way to get Bill CHeswick's Permuted Index:

send your mail address to court@research.att.com
and ask for CSTR 145. We are happy to send out
copies.

In a later posting, ches mentions that the index is not available in
machine readable form. This is not really such a problem: the index comes
in a very nice AT&T cover, double-sided. This information is best used in
the form provided. If you think you need to use the info he's already
compiled for some purpose other than reproducing the index, contact him at:
 ches@research.att.COM
and negotiate!

I'll include the message I sent to him, for documentation's sake.
Note that the swamping consisted of about 6 requests before I sent this
missive, and another 8 or so, today. Note also that the address above is a
mailing address, not an e-mail address!

Bill,

Now, I've done it. I mentioned your [excellent, I might add] permuted
index on bitnet's info-TeX list, and have been swamped by requests
to `send [someone] a copy'. I'd like to post the particulars of how
to get a copy from AT&T. Could you tell me that so I can make sure it's
right?

If AT&T works anything like we do here, interest in this document will
help promote further work in the area, or at least justify doing the
work in the first place. This is the primary reason I'd prefer to see
people requesting copies from AT&T.
