Barbara Beeton pointed out quite correctly that the AMSTeX package which FILESERV supports is not AMSTeX; it is the American Math Society's AMS-LaTeX Version 1.0 release of August, 1990. As we ultimately plan on making the AMSTeX package available (with TeX version, in addition to this LaTeX version), all of the files in AMSTeX have been copied to a new AMSLaTeX package. Until March 11, both the AMSTeX and AMSLaTeX packages will house identical files. Until that date, the commands SENDME AMSTeX and SENDME AMSLaTeX sent to FILESERV@SHSU.BITNET will yield identical AMS-LaTeX files. This is done to avoid temporary confusion on the part of those who may have prior listings of packages available at FILESERV. If you have previously requested and received the AMSTeX package, you will not need any further files. On or around March 11, I hope to have the "real" AMSTeX files in the AMSTeX package. A post will be made to INFO-TeX once that is accomplished. Sorry for any confusion this may cause. George
