BNB@MATH.AMS.COM (bbeeton) (03/04/91)
recently, a growing number of inquiries and requests have appeared on info-tex (and presumably forwarded to comp.text.tex) for addition to the "tex mailing list" or "tug mailing list". there exist several discussion lists, moderated and unmoderated, on the subject of tex, and i will ask george greenwade, maintainer of the info-tex distribution list, to post a summary periodically, perhaps once a month. there is also the tex users group (tug) in the u.s., and several national and language-specific groups in europe. each of these has its own address for requesting information. as all of these groups are membership organizations, a request to be added to one of their mailing lists will yield only information on joining the organization, services available, dates of meetings, and the like, but will not entitle you to receive their publications or other services unless you actually join. in any case, info-tex is not the appropriate place to post requests for information, or to be added to a mailing list. in the case of tug, please direct your requests to tug@math.ams.com or to cvl@math.ams.com (charlotte laurendeau). as charlotte mentioned in an earlier message, please include your full postal address, phone and fax numbers; an information packet will be sent by regular mail. let's keep info-tex for technical and informational questions of real general interest. thanks. -- barbara beeton -------
