[comp.text.tex] Help to Install Tex on PC

ghani@uavax0.ccit.arizona.edu (02/28/91)

  Hi, Fellow Netters:

I wrote my dissertation using TeX on a Vax Machine. Now I would like
to use TeX on a 386sx Laptop. I transfered sbtex30 files from a ftp
site and tried to extract some of the files following the procedure
described in readme.tex file. When I tried to extract the files using
"zoo e// filename.zoo", computer just sits there and nothing happens.

Can somebody explain the procedure in detail? Any help will be greatly
  appreciated.

  Thanks
  Ghani

Greetings,
Does anyone know the FTP site for the public domain version of TeX
suitable for a 386sx laptop (GRiDCASE 1550sx)?
I am mostly a UNIX kind of guy, so any relevant info
would be greatly appreciated.

Please respond to
zeleny@zariski.harvard.edu,
or
zeleny@math.harvard.edu;
for some points of origin, only one of the above works.

Cheers,

Michael
