bed_gdg@SHSU.BITNET ("George D. Greenwade") (03/08/91)
Yesterday (7-Mar-1991), Stephen F. Scherock <scherock@allegro.mit.edu> reported problems with the spacing macros (setspace.sty, doublespace.sty, and fnspacing.tex) aborting (La)TeX runs. It was ultimately pointed out by Rainer Schoepf <Schoepf@SC.ZIB-BERLIN.DBP.DE> that an environment nesting bug fix in latex.tex made in May 89 caused this problem and that the behavior reported was proper under subsequent versions of TeX. Philip Ross <ROSS@BIO-MEDICAL-PHYSICS.ABERDEEN.AC.UK> provided a fix for this problem. I played with this fix under both an old version of TeX and a new version (under emTeX 3.0) and the fix works in both cases. I have updated the files STY.DOUBLESPACE and STY.SETSPACE at FILESERV for retrieval if you would like an updated copy. To receive either file, please MAIL the message SENDME STY.DOUBLESPACE and/or SENDME STY.SETSPACE to FILESERV@SHSU.BITNET. On receipt, extract and save the files in the proper syntax (STY.SETSPACE is saved as SETSPACE.STY and STY.DOUBLESPACE is saved as DOUBLESPACE.STY). FILESERV is capable of handling multiple file requests in a single message so long as each request resides on a unique line of the MAIL message. Finally, I would appreciate it if someone would provide me with a copy of fnspacing.tex so it can be placed on FILESERV for retrieval. Please send it directly to me and I will arrange for this. Regards and thanks for your interest in our services. George %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% George D.
