[comp.text.tex] Legal sized printing on an LPS40

bed_gdg@SHSU.BITNET ("George D. Greenwade") (03/09/91)

We have a project which would be nice to print on legal-sized paper
(8.5x14). The printer we have for this (ideally) is an LPS40 on our VAX
(VMS 5.3-1). The \textheight is easy to change, and everything appears to
be working fine until print time comes. Whenever we try to print the
output, the text is moved down the page about 3 inches (19 lines, give or
take) -- a 3-inch top margin, effectively. We have used DVIALW, LN03toDVI
and the very new (Feb. 24, 1991) version of DVItoLN03 (more on this package
in a future post -- it's really nice). The behavior is consistent whichever
driver is used. The print command being used is:

        Print/que=sys$lps40a/para=(input_tray=middle,page_size=legal, -
         sheet_size=legal)/pass test.fil

Has anyone out there had successful experience printing legal-sized
documents to an LPS40? If so, would you please share some of your insight,
please?

Regards,   George
