[comp.text.tex] \part and some text on the same page

ascott@gara.une.oz.au (ascott) (03/04/91)

Hi there,
In my thesis I have a part called the introduction. Latex places this
on a page by itself. I would like to place a short peice of text on
the same page.

Has anyone done this or could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks as always
tony scott

I did it the following way:

\part[<your title>]{<your title again>\\
\vspace{1cm}
\parbox{10cm}{\normalsize <your short text...>}}

I hope this helps you
