i would like to get tex to work on my 286 machine, running xenix 2.0, dev sys 1.0. unfortunately, the dev system can not handle arrays bigger than 64k, so it can not compile web2c. it would not be too hard to modify web2c to use only smaller arrays, but i am afraid that i will find that tex/mf will use big arrays, and i dont feel up to modifying about 1m of code. does anyone know if tex/mf use big arrays/structures? has someone found a solution to making it work on a machine such as mine without writing a new c compiler that will handle big arrays? i thank you in advance for any help. gwoho liu.
