Hi I am VERY new to TeX. I am trying to install TeX 3.0 on my Personal Iris (Silicon Graphics). I picked up the distribution from labrea.stanford.edu. I modified the site.h file to undefine BSD and define SYSV. The make worked fine and went through smoothly with a couple of warning messages about not being able to reach a couple of return statements. The make install worked fine too. I moved all the necessary files to all the required places, and the preparation of lplain.fmt and plain.fmt also proceeded fine. When I try to latex any file, I immediately get the following error: % latex zoning This is TeX, C Version 3.0 (zoning.tex LaTeX Version 2.09 <7 Dec 1989> (/usr/local/lib/tex/inputs/article.sty Document Style `article' <16 Mar 88>. (/usr/local/lib/tex/inputs/art11.sty) Underfull \vbox (badness 10000) has occurred while \output is active [1] Overfull \vbox (10.0pt too high) has occurred while \output is active) And the resulting dvi file is garbage. It has a couple of characters per page. What could I be doing wrong? Any clues will be appreciated. Ravi
