I'm a novis user of TeX. I was wondering about the history of TeX and LaTeX. Difference and such. Could some one enlighten me? -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lars H Carlsson E-Mail: lhc@easylogic.cgl.se Mail: Aspn{sv{gen 20 VII S-175 37 J[RF[LLA, Sweden

TeX was written by Donald E. Knuth, and is a typesetting system. LaTeX is a set of macros for TeX written by Leslie Lamport of DEC - this turns TeX into more of a markup language, rather than a typesetter. The distinction I am making between typesetting and markup is just my opinion :-) but I find it useful to explain it this way to other people who have asked me about TeX. Hope that helps in some way.
