[comp.text.tex] Need Backslashes in Text

sharp@snuffleupagus.csd.scarolina.edu (Harry Sharp) (04/03/91)

I have an interesting problem which defies an answer (as far as I can see).

I need to have backslashes (\) appear in my text, but I can't seem to
make the \verb{} environment work in LaTeX. Even if that would work,
the font changes to \tt and in a figure this looks bad.

Is there a simple way to remove the magic connotations from the \ ?

How about \backslash ??

Just remember that \backslash must go in math mode.

Also, from the looks of your posting, you misunderstand \verb. It
isn't delimited by { }, but by a pair of any character, which mustn't
appear in the text. \verb!like this! or \verbQthisQ or\ldots. It is
unique in that.
