[comp.text.tex] Using TeX's Computer Modern as a Postscript font?

greg@quagmire.ucsb.edu (04/10/91)

I have a NeXT cube with the standard fonts installed (Courier, Helvetica,
Ohlfs, Symbol, Times), and of course it comes with TeX and the
standard collection of TeX fonts.

My question is: how can I get the NeXT to recognize Computer Modern
as a font, i.e., get Computer Modern to appear in any application's font
panel? Since the NeXT is Postscript-based, I guess the real question
is: has anybody created Postscript font files for the Computer Modern
collection of typefaces?

Thanks in advance,

As far as I know Blue Sky Research has (in their TeXTures for the
Mac). They charge a few hundred $ for It and I don't know whether
they will work with the NeXT.

However, it is easy to go the other way:
\documentstyle[times]{whatever}
will compose your {whatever} with Adobe Times, which you can preview;
if you use a non-NeXT printer with builting Adobe fonts you can also
use the other fonts, but you can't preview them, of course.

Greetings,
