[comp.text.tex] EPSF files and OzTeX/Textures

kashyap@wharton.upenn.edu (04/12/91)

Hi,
I am saving graphs generated in Igor as Pict then reading it into Adobe
Illustrator and saving it as EPSF. When I include it in my Latex document it is
being processed or so it seems but it comes out as blank space in my document
while printing. I have tried it with OzTeX as well as Textures. I would greatly
appreciate any suggestions/solutions to this problem.
Thanks in Advance

I have an old version (1.6) of Adobe Illustrator 88,
and there you can't use PICT pictures. You can import
a PICT file as a template, but it is to be used only as
a model below Illustrator's actual drawing layer.
You have draw your Illustrator picture using the underlying
PICT (or bitmap) picture as model; there is an autotrace tool,
but it does not always give as good results as you might want.
To see what the picture will look like when printed, use the
command Preview Illistration, and if you have placed EPS files,
you should check the proper box in Save As.

If Igor does not export EPS pictures, you might do better by
using bringing your PICT graphics into the Pictures window
in Textures or saving it as a PICT file (I guess this latter
works with OzTeX 1.4, too).
