[comp.text.tex] TeX on a Sun with an HP LaserJet III

brendan@cs.widener.edu (Brendan Kehoe) (04/18/91)

Hi folks .. I'm just finishing the actual install of TeX on our Suns
(the fonts are cranking away).
I got Beeble's drivers, and I've been playing with trying to get any
of them working (I know, it won't work without the fonts).
My problem is, it's looking for the fonts with a magnification of
603, thus blowing away any attempts to do things with the fonts
that've been built so far.
For example, cmr9 is built. I tried a little tex file that does:

	\font\ninerm=cmr9 \magstep 1
	\ninerm
	{\it italicized\/} and {\sl slanted\/} words
	\bye

But it always looks for a couple of others (that's ok), then it tries
cmr9 with 603 again. Even if I do
	dvijet -m622 foo.tex
(622 is one of the ones in there), it screams.

Can anyone give some clues to someone who's just beginning to figure
all of this out? It's pretty exciting to see some of the stuff go,
but I can't get it to print out yet.

  Thanks!

Brendan
