First a question which prompted this article. Where can I find an FTP site for transfig? Now to the bigger question. Does anyone have a profile of the various mail servers, archive servers, style servers, etc.? I would like to know things like: 1) addressing (UUCP, Internet) 2) authoritative source (i.e. most recent original dist.) 3) what can be found there 4) how to get 5) restrictions on usage You may have others you wish to add to this list, but the essence is that someone out there knows the best place to find xyz.doodad and I'd like to see that compiled into one document. Kind of a _Consumer Reports_ for the TeX maintainer. If such a document doesn't exist I would be willing to start one. Just send me your experiences with the various sources of TeX thingies and I'll summarize.
