I recently built some cm fonts for OzTeX so I could get SliTeX running. However, OzTeX gives me mysterious errors like: Bad Fix Byte and Bad ID Byte whenever I try to preview. I built the fonts using the version of metafont that is provided with emTeX and uploaded everything to my Mac as binaries. What causes these errors and how can I fix them? If no one can answer this question perhaps someone knows ... 1. Where can I get a version of metafont for the Mac that is not an MPW tool? (I've checked into macmetafont, but it appears that MPW is required to run it.) 2. Where can I get the following fonts (300dpi) lcmss8, lcmssi8, lcmssb8, cmmi8 (and their invisable partners) ilcmss8, ilcmssi8, ilcmssb8 and icmmi8 in the usual sizes (300,329,360,432,518,622,746) that will work with OzTeX? some stuff about having difficulty with OzTeX and SliTeX.
A fairly complete version of OzTeX together with SliTeX and its fonts
is available on lyman.pppl.gov in the directory pub/OzTeX. The sit
file (not bin-hexed do use binary mode) is large (12456k) but includes
a number of utilities.
