[comp.text.tex] How to make vf fonts?

I want to combine half of one font with half of another to create a
new font. The most sensible approach seems to be to create a "virtual
font" and use the vf capabilities of our dvi to ps driver. How do
I do this? Are there any documents that describe how to do this?
