I am switching over from LaTeX'ing mainly on VAX/VMS/LPS20 printer to OzTeX'ing on a MacII/ALW-IINTX printer (although I haven't actually installed everything yet, in particular, OzTeX itself!). Because of some effects I need in my LaTeX output (espf.sty/psfig.sty EPS file handling ability and DRAFT overlay), I would like to know if anybody has ported Rokicki's dvips to the Mac and if so, where I can get it by ftp or other methods. Are there other <free> dvi-to-ps drivers for the Mac besides the standard OzTeX distribution out there? Likewise, where/how to get them? Thank you. sommer@binah.cc.brandeis.edu sommer@brandeis.bitnet

Well, actually OzTeX generates PostScript output (to printer, or to files)
as its default way of printing. In fact, if you want to print to something
other than a PS capable printer, you need dvi72img (or something like
that). Also, OzTeX makes it rather easy to include PS by means of the
\special command.
All this, and more, are available via anonymous ftp from midway.uchicago.edu,
in /pub/OzTeX (or was it pub/oztex?).
Hope I understood your question,

I too am interested in a Macintosh port of dvips. While OzTeX has a fine PostScript driver included, it cannot do such things as rotate text. We make extensive use of this feature for rotated tables and figures (with rotated captions) with other drivers on other platforms (VAX, Sun). Texture's driver supports this capability, but we are attempting to standardize on the dvips driver for all platforms (that way we only need to maintain one set of style files for all LaTeX documents on all platforms).
