[comp.text.tex] LaTeX on Amiga

krooglik@ecr.mu.oz.au (06/03/91)

  I am having major problems with my PD TeX setup on my Amiga.

  Last night I was trying to run LaTeX. I have "compiled" the LaTeX file
on my Amiga with "initex lplain \dump" and it has successfully created
a file "lplain.fmt" in my "TeX:formats" directory.

  Now, to run LaTeX, I am told to run VirTeX using "VirTeX &lplain <file name>"
and indeed this does work, giving me a message along the lines of

    "PasTeX v1.2a    02-05-91"
    "LaTeX v2.09a    02-05-91"

and "(new.tex
    "

  Etc, etc, etc. Now, I have in this simple file the following lines :

 	Line 1.		\documentstyle [12pt]{article}
	Line 2.		\begin{document}
	Line 3.		Hello!!!
	Line 4.		\end{document}

  And it gives me a message "Couldn't find file article.sty" or something
to that effect.

  So, could anyone out there who has successfully installed the PD
version of Amiga TeX and got it running LaTeX successfully please mail me
and tell me what I am doing wrong!!

  Thanks.

LaTeX needs 'style files'. Which are not on the PasTeX distribution.
Search the file 'article.sty' at you prefered TeX-ftp-server.
Or get the file /pub/tex/macros/latex/ILaTeX.lzh at ftp.uni-passau.de.
