I have a copy of Gentle.tex that I can do any thing with. When I tried to tex it it bombs on the first line of code a type of if-statement. I new at tex and don't under stand the error. The statement picks a font type. Also when I tried to detex it it also bombs. Sorry I dont have the error here to tell what it is but I seen to remember about to big. If I could get either of these process to work I be happy. I presently reading the TeX book and porting TeX to my person machine so that I will have more access and better access to TeX. Anyother suggestions. THANX in advance, steve -- USnail: Stephen M. Hess, 5006 Oldshire Rd, Louisville, KY 40229-1223 uucp: coplex!unx-pc!steve or steve@unx-pc.UUCP

It is a vms machine so use ``cdup'' instead of ``cd ..''.
