In plain TeX, I want to back up (in a vadjust) so that some lines of text appear in the margin in a different point size, and with the first line lined up with the line that the vadjust appears in. I can do this, following example 14.28 in the TeX book, but I need to know how far below the current baseline I am when my vadjust takes over. Knuth does this with \dp\strutbox -- but I can't see how I should set the size of the strutbox when I change fonts. In otherwords, if I write a \npoint macro that tests a new \baselineskip, how should I choose the accompanying \strut?
