My setup: TeX 3.14, LaTeX 2.09 <14 January 1991>, and AMS-LaTeX 1.0 on top of that. Anyway, I find the new font selection scheme extremely confusing. That isn't my problem. This is: I am using the Euler Fraktur font. I didn't have any problems until today. I am now using the font in bold, and there are bizarre problems. (I use, say, \boldsymbol{\frak R} to get a bold Fraktur R.) What happens is that some of the non-bold Fraktur characters come out in script size! For example, in one line, there are three Fraktur E's, each one of which is `normal', and there is one bold Fraktur R. The three E's are produced with the same code (it is a macro), but the middle one is in script size. No, it is not in a subscript! What's more, if I remove the occurrences of \boldsymbol (so all the Fraktur symbols come out `normal'), the problem goes away! Maybe someone should take a hard look at the code for \boldsymbol and the routines it calls. -- Richard Walker (walrmath@durras.anu.edu.au) Department of Computer Science The Australian National University GPO Box 4, Canberra, ACT 2601, Australia
