I have a piece of text with footnotes to be typeset with \obeylines on. I want to switch off the effects of \obeylines when the footnotes are typeset. How can I do that? I have tried one or two ``obvious'' approaches, to no avail. Also, I have been unable to find anything applicable after a look in the TeXBook. My apologies if this is an FAQ or if I overlooked a straightforward solution somewhere in the TeXBook. JCA vanadis@cs.dal.ca
