Pertaining to earlier postings, here is the charter of the BITnet list FILM-L (which also appears as Newsgroup bit.listserv.film-l). -------------------------------------------------------------------- FILM-L%VMTECMEX.BITNET@VM1.NODAK.EDU Mailing list to serve as a crossroad of different points of view about cinema: The film as art, entertainment, business, or communications media. Also to serve as a source for help of amateur film makers on any format. This includes reviews about new equipment, techniques, et cetera. The contribution of everybody interested in any way, or area of specialization, from the moviegoer to the expert in a field is encouraged. -------------- I don't find anything similar for MOVIES-L or CINEMA-L. [Moderator's note: this sounds interesting; do people think it makes sense to cross post between bit.listserv.film-l and rec.arts.cinema? Will it get the net.gods angry at us? I guess one issue would be to find out whether the Usenet news distribution of bit.listserv.film-l is less than, comparable to, or greater than the Usenet distribution of rec.arts.cinema. In any event, one thing that would make a lot of sense would be to advertise the existence of rec.arts.cinema on the FILM-L mailing list, and have interesting articles that arrive in either forum be posted to the other one. I definitely see this as being a two-way street, although rec.arts.cinema would remain moderated as long 1) the readership of rec.arts.cinema wishes the newsgroup to be moderated and 2) there exists a moderator. I would be willing to take on this cross-posting, although if someone else would volunteer to read both rec.arts.cinema and FILM-L and pass on articles appropriately from one forum to the other, that would be ideal. So what do people think linking rec.arts.cinema up with FILM-L? Is this a good idea or a bad one? Any thoughts? -- MKT]
