I'm packing it up and returning it to the vendor, and have since opted for an SDI-interface Optical R/W for our 6410. I haven't heard any claims since for working VAX- Station SCSI Optical R/W; in fact Sony met with a manufacturer last week in Boston about the problem (and other stuff too), and all I can see going on is a lot of finger-pointing. I was going to refer your posting to one of our Sales Reps, but then, I decided it would be better to let you initiate the contact if you wish. I am using an HP650A on my system on a SCSI with some other storage devices and it is pretty slick. It is slower than tape backups but individual file retrieval is really nice. I do my backups on it using cpio -p. I have installed a boot area on one of the optical disks so that it can double as a disaster recovery system. Buy from whomever you wish, but it sounds like what I am doing is what you are looking for. If you are interested in a Hewlett Packard model just contact your nearest Hewlett Packard Sales Office. NOTE: I AM NOT IN SALES. #include <std.disclaimer>
