We've got 4 Wren VI's connected to SS1's. They provide great service. However, we have had: 1 DOA 1 died during power glitch after ~1 month of operation 1 died last night, perhaps during another power event. This is not a great track record. Especially since Seagate took 8 weeks to fix our second drive under warranty. We're looking at another 8 weeks of being a disk short now... Has anyone else had this kind of problems with the Wren VI? If so, any ideas how to help the problem. E-mail to me and I will summarize to the list if there is anything of interest. - Geof -- geof@aurora.com / aurora!geof@decwrl.dec.com / geof%aurora.com@decwrl.dec.com

Yeah, we bought 6 of 'em from Ed's Discount Disks (local joke). Of those... 1 DOA (replaced) 1 dead within a month (replaced) 1 that was flaky for several months (would occasionally decide to lose its label on reboot, random patterns, we never figured out why - it settled down eventually) 1 dead power supply 1 fan going toastie-o's But now...they're nice drives. Fast too. Guess you gotta age 'em. :) Jeffery Bacon -- Computing Technology Svcs., Michigan Technological University email- bacon@mtus5.bitnet voice: (906)487-2110 fax: (906)487-2787 alternate- uucp: <world>!itivax!anet!bacos domain: bacos%anet@itivax.iti.org
