[comp.periphs.scsi] Wren 7 scsi drives...

rpinder@phad.hsc.usc.edu (Rich Pinder) (06/27/90)

I seem to remember some postings regarding these drives lately, but have
conflicting info as to their specs - are they 1.2 Gb or .67 Gb drives?

Also, did the company that makes them recently get bought by another??

I need to get performance/price specs for them - if anyone has used them
(especially under SCO) I'd like to hear about your impression.

Thanks,

Rich,
Control Data's disk drive division, Imprimis, was recently bought
out by Seagate. The Wren VII is listed at 1200MB unformatted, 1050MB
formatted (but remember: your mileage may vary). Interface is SCSI,
sync or async, 16ms average seek, 15-23 MHz transfer rate. The drive
is very fast, in our benchmarks at least, probably due to its internal
cache buffer. Arrow Electronics is a large Seagate distributor, so
you can probably get the technical specs you need from them.
