[comp.periphs.scsi] SCSI-2 Standard Approved by X3 Committee

jlohmeye@entec.Wichita.NCR.COM (John Lohmeyer) (07/18/90)

SCSI-2 Rev 10c has been approved by the X3 committee. It now
goes to the ANSI Board of Standards Review (BSR) for ANSI
approval. BSR does not judge the contents of the standard,
but rather were the X3 rules followed in its development.
I expect BSR approval sometime in August 1990.

ANSI Publication of SCSI-2 will likely take at least 6 months
as we are converting to the ISO style. These changes are
editorial in nature, but they take a lot of time on a document
that is nearly 600 pages.

X3T9.2, the committee that brought you SCSI-1 and now SCSI-2,
has started working on (what else?) SCSI-3. If you would like
to participate in X3T9.2, please send me email, phone me, or
leave me a note on the SCSI BBS. If you just want to get the
committee mailings, contact Katrina Gray at (202) 626-5741.
There are 6 mailings per year and the cost is $400/year (pro-
rated for the remainder of 1990). $250 of this fee supports
the X3 Secretariat which processes X3 standards.

John Lohmeyer, X3T9.2 Chairman
