Are there any reasonably priced SCSI controllers available that would
provide:
1) Support for at least three, and preferably four SCSI hard disks of vaous
kinds (fixed, removable cartridge, CD-ROM, etc.)
2) Up to at least 4meg of cache on the board
3) Support for two floppy drives of any combination
4) Support for up to at least 15Mbs transfer rates for drives
5) Support for one SCSI tape drive of any type
I'm basically looking for a SCSI controller that is very similar in
performance and features as the CompuAdd HardCache ESDI controller. I've
already pretty much chosen the drive I want, which is available in either ESDI
or SCSI flavors, and can now actually get serious about looking for an
appropriate controller of either type. Oh yes, one last thing - the controller
_must_ be able to work in a '286, '386, or '486 system and have enough
alternate BIOS addresses to get above the system BIOS in a '386 or above. I'm
hoping to find a controller with the above specifications, or at least most of
them, for a price less than $900.00 including 4meg RAM.
