[comp.periphs.scsi] scsi <-> quik36 converter needed

alan@km4ba.UUCP (Alan Barrow) (07/30/90)

I am looking to convert a wangtek or archive quik36 tape drive to
use scsi. Both manufacturers indicate that it can be done, by buying
a board from them.

The problem is they want $400, or so for the part. I need a cheaper
way to do it.

I have seen adaptec boards that claim to do this on the surplus market.
Has any one done this type of conversion before?

Thanks!

The Emulex MT-02 is SCSI to QIC-36

The adaptec 3150 (?) also did SCSI to QIC-36, but I had a lot
of problems with it (it didn't handle end of media processing
well), but my experience with the 3150 is now 3-4 years old...
