[comp.periphs.scsi] Maxtor HD

I have seen some ads for the Maxtor LXT-200 that make it look pretty good
(3.5", 200MB, 15ms, 5MB/s) but I was wondering if anybody out there has
used one, and if so, is it as good as the ads would seem to indicate. The
price seems very good too ($895 in Computer Shopper). Also, does it work
with the Adaptec 1542A/B.

Please E-mail and I'll post any concensus.

I have seen some ads recently for the Maxtor LXT-200 that make it look
pretty good (3.5", 200MB, 5MB/s, 15ms and $895 in Computer Shopper). Does
anyone out there use this drive? and if so, how is it? I also had a
question about the IDE vs SCSI decision. Someone here recently mentioned
that a local dealer could replace his/her current drive with an IDE drive
that plugged into the mother board (and this person had a clone). I thought
that the PS/2's had this capability but I didn't think that any clones did.
If this is true, would this imply that you could achieve a very high data
transfer rate because of not having to stuff your data through the PC bus?
Sorry about what turned out to be a long IDE question in this group but
people in this group seem to know a lot about all types of drives. Thank
you in advance for any responses.
