I suppose this should go to Roy Neese of adaptec but I haven't got his address, apologies. I've recently got a WREN IV and an AHA 1542B. The Wren Iv was previously used and has data. When i plugged them into my 16MHz 386, the 1542b sensed a scsi drive with the following prompt: checking for SCSI Target 0 LUN 0 SCSI Target 0 LUN 0 installed as Drive C: checking for SCSI Target 1 LUN 0 and then the led on the board lighted up and after 3 secs the floppy (using the 1542b controller) booted up. I suppose it should only check for one device not 2? When I tried to format the drive usually the bios format routine, it couldn't even sense there is a device there. it returned some timeout error in scsi inquiry command. When I tried the dma test at dc00:9, the test failed because there is error in R/W FIFO test. I've used the default settings and I've pulled out all other cards except the display card which has no conflict. The strangest thing is that when I tried to access the drive c: in dos, the old data came up and i could access them. Finally i tried scsictrl.exe and it couldn't sense a device. Could someone out there suggest what i can do? ( the version of bios is 3.10 part #420412-00B) Thanks in advance, Kai Shing - Kai S O'Yang, Dept of Comp Sci, Monash Uni, Clayton VIC 3168, Australia - AARNET: oyang@bruce.cs.monash.edu.au - Voice : +(61) 3 565 5778 - ARPA : oyang@bruce.cs.monash.edu.au@uunet.uu.net ------ -- - Kai S O'Yang, Dept of Comp Sci, Monash Uni, Clayton VIC 3168, Australia - AARNET: oyang@bruce.cs.monash.edu.au - Voice : +(61) 3 565 5778 - ARPA : oyang@bruce.cs.monash.edu.au@uunet.uu.net ------
