I am having a problem with my scsi tape drive under esix that maybe someone out there can help me with. The situation is this: running Esix 3.2.2 D with and Adaptec 1542B and a Wangtek 5525ES (525MB) tape drive. With the standard tools (evmt, cpio, tar) the tape will read and write DC600A cartridges in QIC-120 mode (112MB), and DC600A cartridges in QIC-24 mode (60MB). My problem is that the system will not work with DC6525 cartridges (525MB), it appears to write, but immediately returns and end-of-file upon attempts to read the tapes. I suspect that if I could send messages directly to the tape drive, that I could build a backup program. But, the documentation that came with the system isn't helping. So, what I am asking for (finally) is some kind of description on talking to scsi devices under Esix. Source code would be great, but general descriptions or pointers to some documentation would also be a great assistance. Thanks in advance. And, I will summarize the responses I get (if of course there is any interest.) david sullivan -- ---------- David Sullivan Smart-Mailers: david@astute.com Not-So-Smart Mailers: cs.uoregon.edu!tanelorn!david
