Last week I purchased a SyQuest SQ555 (a 44MByte Bernoulli Drive) and I
tried to connect it to my Adaptec 1522 (IBM-)SCSI Hostadapter. And it
failed:
The Adaptec stops while sending the 'Inquiry Command' to the SyQuest. It
seems, that the SQ Drive doesn't respond to the request or even doesn't
recognize it (the settings of the SCSI ID's are ok, btw).
Both, the SyQuest and the Adaptec, are working in combination
with other devices (such as a Quantum ProDrive 170S or a Future Domain
compatible adapter).
I've heard, that a bug in the Adaptec ROM is responsible for this. It is
the version 1.2. The SyQuest Firmware is version FFH.
My questions:
-Does anybody have similiar experiences with this or other combinations?
-Is the AHA1542 (or any other adapter) working with the SyQuest?
If someone is interested in this problem, please let me know. I will
summarize any responses.
