[comp.periphs.scsi] SCSI-II on Sun SPARCstations?

jq@brahms.udel.edu (John W Quillen Jr) (01/08/91)

Has anyone had experience using SCSI-II devices on Suns?
I specifically interested in tagged command queuing.

So far I know that:
	SPARCstation 1s & 1+s use the NCR53C90 chip, which doesn't appear to
	support SCSI-II.  I used scsi_ifgetcap() to find out that a SPARCstation 1
	running 4.0.3 doesn't know what tagged queuing is.

	SPARCstation 2s use the NCR53C90A chip, which appears to support SCSI-II,
	but who has one? Does 4.1.1 support tagged queuing?

	Eltek has an SBus to SCSI board which uses the NCR53C90A chip. Central Data
	will soon have a board using the NCR53C710. Anyone used Eltek's or another
	I haven't heard of?

Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
