[ So far, all I know of is the Adaptec AHA-1740, but I don't know if it is yet

[ don't know what other controllers might be available.

We utilize the Adaptec and the Bustek EISA host adapters here at
Storage Dimensions. Both seem to be fairly high quality, good
performance adapters. To get the performance that EISA promises,
the boards MUST be used in the EISA mode though. I don't know
prices (I are an engineer ;-) ... From an design standpoint, the
Bustek was easier to implement and performs 5-10% better than the
Adaptec. If you want to know more about the "products", please
call our sales folk at (408) 879-0300. We don't sell the boards
stand-alone, but our subsystems for EISA include them.

ALWAYS Technology, Westlake Village, CA, is making an intelligent EISA SCSI-II
controller. I have no price info. It's described in the March 1991
issue of Modern Electronics magazine available at your local
newsstand.
