Can anyone recommend a source for a good, cheap SCSI DAT drive with the standard features (read-after-write verification, fast seek, etc.) ? (Preferably this source would be outside the state of California, to avoid sales tax). I presume I could qualify for any academic discount... Thanks for any information. Please mail to my private account (I shall post a summary, if I get a number of sources). /ivo welch ivo@next.agsm.ucla.edu = 128.97.74.50

If the net is going to share the traffic, let's share the info also, even if it's only ONE source!!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// John Guest ...johng@bluemoon ...n8emr!bluemoon!johng ...nstar!bluemoon!johng ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Well, I thought I would post a summary, but responses were very scarce. The best source I found was Lex Electronics ((714) 587-0404), which quotes roughly $1,600 for their DAT drive. Someone mentioned Tallgrass drives, but these were (discounted) more like $2,500. Of course, they may have additional features and/or software, but I wanted a plain-vanilla 1.3GB DAT drive... /ivo
