Hello all, I am having a problem and I'm at the end of my rope. I have upgraded my ISC 2.02 system by purchasing a Maxtor 4380S. I used to have a 45MB Seagate SCSI. I have the Adaptec 1542a controller. I have been trying to install 2.02 on the 4380 without any luck. I keep getting kernel panics during the installation of the boot and core disks. I have even gone so far as to get new disks from Interactive and a second 4380S to no avail. The two Maxtors work fine under DOS as does the rest of the system. In fact, UNIX was running fine on this machine with the little Seagate SCSI drive. The 4380S will work with ISC won't it. I did a low level format and verify with the onboard 1542A firmware on each drive. When prompted for interleave I entered 1. Is this correct? When I install ISC, I tell it that I used interleave 1 on the disk. I have scsicntl. Are there any parameters on the Maxtor that need to be modified with scsicntl? The Maxtor firware is at rev B5A with cache turned on? A few things I have noticed may be relavent. ISC fdisk says the disks have 319 cylinders while DOS fdisk and other utilities say 318. When the kernel panics, it is usually right at the end of the boot disk. One time is was right at the end of core disk 4. j I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. I have been trying to get this to work for over 3 weeks and have spent $$$ on ups charges.
