If I want to put some ST506 drives onto an ACB4000 or ACB4070, I have the
impression that there is some scsi magic I need to do in order to write the
ST506 drive's geometry onto a block on the disk somewhere, so the controller
is able to deal properly with SCSI requests.
I'm using the ACB's on old sun workstations. Can anyone tell me if:
(a) I do need such magic, and if so where to find out what the magic is?
(b) If I'm using Sun's "format" program, does it do the needed magic
for me when I specify the drive geometry inside format, or does this special
record still need to be written somehow?
Any sources for technical information on the adaptec cards would be appreciated.
I own several of these cards but have absolutely *no* data for any of them.
Cheers,
Simon Hackett
