[comp.periphs.scsi] Anyone using an external 8mm drive on a 3B2?

et@ocf.berkeley.edu (Eric Thompson) (03/03/91)

How do you attach an external 8mm tape drive to a 3B2/700? (In my
case, the drive is a Contemporary Cybernetics CY-8200.)

There are 2 50-pin ports on the back of the 3B2, which I understand
are the Host Adapter. One of these is being used by the 2 internal
317-MB hard drives and the internal cartridge tape drive. The other
one simply has a cap on it.

I've gathered that I can't just attach the drive to the free (capped)
50-pin port, since that's not what it's for--so how do I go about
connecting it? Is there some other board or intermediate peripheral I need?

Feel free to mail to me at et@ocf.berkeley.edu, or post. Any help is
greatly appreciated.
