[comp.periphs.scsi] 2 Seagate HDs to 1 Apple IIgs: How?

jimdean@bnr.ca (Jim Dean) (03/26/91)

My current configuration is an Apple IIgs with the Rev. C SCSI card,
an old IBM PC power supply, and a Seagate ST-2??N 40Meg Hard Drive.

My younger brother has obtained an 80Meg Seagate ST-296N for me for
$100. (Before anyone says, "Wow, what a great brother," please note
that I had to spend most of his formative years pounding him so that
he knew what the pecking order was. :-) )

I'd like to use both the 40Meg and 80Meg drives, but I have a few
questions I hope the net can answer for me:

1. Can the Rev C card have two HDs hanging off it?

2. For some reason, I have assumed that the Seagate 40M has a SCSI
terminator in it. After all, my setup works fine and I sure as heck
didn't add anything to it. Will I have to do something to one of
the drives to remove a terminator? Or do I have to make a terminator?

3. I have a ribbon cable connecting the Seagate unit to the port at the
back of the HD box. Can I just slap another connector on this cable
and plug it into the new drive, hooking them up in parallel? If not,
anyone know what the appropriate cable looks like and where I can get
   one?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.
