[comp.periphs.scsi] Inquiries about CDC 94171-344 and Wangtek 5150

jack@bucsf.bu.edu (Jack C. Chan) (04/03/91)

Hi there, I have the following two piece of devices and wonder
if anybody out there can provide me with the necessary information
so that I can get them going on a PC compatible and whether or not
I need any software drivers to do so.

First of all, I have a CDC drive, the model number is CDC 94171-344,
when I query it under an utility on the Macintosh it came back with
the number CDC 94171-9 5352. I think it is an OEM drive for Honeywell Bull.
I need to know what the jumper settings are and how to set them. I
would also like to know where the SCSI terminator(s) are. The following is
a diagram of the drive's connectors.

 SCSI terminators? SCSI terminators?

  Power connectors.

Secondly, I have a streaming tape drive, again when I query it using the
Macinitosh utility, I got back Wangtek SCSI-36 5150ES version ESB6.
The following is a diagram of the drive connectors, I have no idea where
the SCSI terminator(s) are. I have no idea how to set the jumpers and
is there any software out there which I use it to do some simple backups.

I am going to use the two devices above under DOS on an AST Premium 286
running DOS 4.01. I have a 1542b adapter with the Master Kit. I also
have the SCSICNTL.EXE posted here last February. Currently I am using
the diskette controller on the motherboard for both the 1.44M and 1.2M
drives. Please either post your reply in this newsgroup or e-mail me.

  Thank you very much.
