Sorry if you have seen this before: it appears that it didn't get out of Calgary. -------------------- I have an Adaptec 4070 (SCSI->RLL) that I would *dearly* love to make work with my 1542B. I got the two hooked up, put my 65 Mb RLL drive on the 4070, and it wouldn't find it (the drive). Blindly trusting that it was because the drive had been formatted on another controller (true; an Adaptec 2372C), I used the debug-accessed formatter in the 1542B. It gave the drive a low-level format, but it only formatted it to be 6 Mb :-(. A few questions pop to mind: o can a 4070 be used with a 1542B? o how do you format a drive to max capacity with said arrangement? o when I try to run scsicntl.exe (posted here), it freaks out and says something about 'sense error' and calmly exits back to MS-DOS. o why do aspidisk.sys and aspi4dos.sys both say that no SCSI device is attached? The drive and the controller are both functional; I had them hooked up to an Atari ST and checked that out. The software I used on the Atari even knew that it was a 4070! Any ideas? Any and all help would be appreciated; I can't afford to get another drive for a little while and I need some space for a course I am taking this summer.
