Does anyone make a controller that will convert Sun's older 1/2" 1600/6250 bpi tape drive to SCSI? I believe the drive is a Fujitsu M2444 with a Pertec interface, which ordinarily is controlled by a Xylogics 472. What I would like to do is either replace the Pertec interface with a SCSI interface, or add a Pertec ->SCSI converter if such exists. -- Ken Mandelberg | km@mathcs.emory.edu PREFERRED Emory University | {rutgers, gatech}!emory!km UUCP Dept of Math and CS | km@emory.bitnet NON-DOMAIN BITNET Atlanta, GA 30322 | Phone: Voice (404) 727-7963, FAX 727-5611

This is a free-standing SCSI<->Pertec board (I mounted mine on the back of the tape drive) that can deal with most 1600/3200/6250 bpi Pertec interface drives. After modifying a couple of files and rebuilding the kernel the drive does everything it could on the previous controler (but faster). -- Reg.Clemens clemens@afwl.af.mil
