Hi, netpeople! We are having BIG trouble with a couple of Maxtor Panther P1-17S (1.7 Gb SCSI disks). They won't run on HP 9000/400t (with HP-UX 7.03) nor on Sun SLC (with SunOs 4.1). On the HP they let us make the filesystem (with newfs(1m)), but when we run fsck(1m), the machine reports random CANNOT READ BLOCK #x (where x varies from 8 to 1309000), and as we do a heavy disk to disk copy (using find + cpio), after a few minutes the machine crashes. On the Sun, as we issue newfs, the machine reports the usual bunch of superblock dupes, and after a couple of minutes reports a lot of errors, like: "sd0: SCSI transport failed: reason 'reset': retrying command" and "esp0: 3.0 data transfer failure stat 0x11<XZERO,IO> INTR=0x10<BUS> last state='UNKNOWN' last cmd='dma trans_info" Obviusly we have tried all known (to us...) solutions: swap cable, exchange parity jumper, exchange terminator, exchange SCSI Id. number. BTW, on the HP trying a mediainit(1) results in an immediate crash. Any help will be VERY appreciated... Bye, Lanfranco -- Lanfranco Albani - CAD.LAB s.p.a., v.
