It seems to me that a tech support guy from Adaptec frequents this group from time to time and any other opinions are welcome as well. I used to have a 1522b and at that time P.C. tools deluxe 6.0 (pcbackup) reported that my drives would support the high DMA speed for backing up to the floppy but ever since I "upgraded? to the 1542b "bus mastering" host adapter the only speed reported by pcbackup that works is medium and this is pretty flakey too. I have not dug out the docs for the 1522b but it seems to me that there were more jumpers to set in regards to the floppy controller than on the 1542b ?? I have the DMA jumper set to the slowest speed (5mbs/sec I think) and so far tis problem is the only indication I have that there might be a problem. I would also like some input on what speed is usually optimal for setting the DMA speed for a 16 mhz 386 machine ? Mark Moorcroft (sevenup@netcom.COM)
