We're trying to add some sci drives (Priam 738, 300Mb) to our sparcstation 1+'s... and find that the Sun documentation on this is rather lacking. When we hook up one drive, with or without termination, the (new) external drive will spin up, but the (old) internal won't. The SS1 draws the sun logo and prints the id#, but never even gets to print "Testing". (Of course all is fine w/o the external disk.) Is there something that needs to be done inside the case? (e.g., remove termination? If so, where/how?) Is there any place this procedure is documented? (i.e., are we missing something; I sure can't find anything.) What is the final verdict on scsi ID for the first external disk? (second? third?) Any other reason you can think of why the internal disk won't spin up and/or the system won't even do the self test? -- Andrew Burt uunet!isis!aburt or aburt@du.edu "There are people in the world who do not love their fellow human beings -- and I *hate* people like that" -- Tom Lehrer
