[comp.periphs.scsi] UPDATE ADAPTEC 1540A

bill@camco.Celestial.COM (Bill Campbell) (05/24/91)

I found that the old Adaptec 1540 (long) boards supplied by Tandy
for the Tandy 4000 were incompatible with the newer boards
(something to do with head mapping). I bought the update rom
from Tandy parts. The problem is that the markings on the chip
aren't like anything else on the board :-(.

There are three chips on the board that appear similar to the
replacement, one next to the cable connection and two at the
other end of the board. The one by the cable says something
about BIOS so I thought this was the most likely candidate. When
I replace this chip the system would hang during the
initialization and never detect the Adaptec bios.

Where do I put this thing (rude suggestions > /dev/null)?
