This posting isn't in most of you guys' league but please help me. I have a Fujitsu 2614ESA 3.5 inch 182Mb SCSI hard drive mechanism, brand new, direct from Fujitsu and I can't get it to talk to the SCSI interface on my Commodore A590 Hard Disc interface. What happens is this: Power up the system, Drive spins up, Heads are released, Performs quite a lot of long seeks, Performs a lot of short seeks, [ In both of the above cases the access light on the drive is flickering as the seeks are performed. ] The drive access light on the drive then stays ON, even though the access light on the interface is OFF. When the interface tries to communicate with the drive the interfaces access light comes ON and the drives access light goes OFF. The system now hangs, rebooting the Amiga doesn't reset the drive or the interface. Do you have any suggestions as to what could be causing this to happen? Is it likely to be the drive? I have tried all SCSI ID settings 0 to 6, (the interface is set to ID 7,) I have tried parity enable/disabled, synchronous transfer enabled/disabled etc. Please help, I am a 2nd year degree student and I can't really afford to have several hundred pounds of hard disc drive sat around doing nothing. Any suggestions/comments no matter how silly/obvious/rediculous would be greatly appreciated. Phillip Harris. Please Post or E-Mail any replies....
